Scents
Scent is what turns a bath into an experience.
At High Country Bath, we’ve chosen to keep most of our mineral soaks unscented on purpose—so you can customize your soak exactly how you want it.
Not all essential oils belong in a bath. Some are too harsh for skin, some are photosensitive, and others can even make your bath feel uncomfortable (peppermint, for example, can make hot water feel cold).
Instead of guessing, we’ve done the work for you.
Expert-Guided Recommendations
We work with a NAHA Level 2 Certified Aromatherapist to identify essential oils that are safe, effective, and beautifully suited for bath use. We are passing these recommendations on to you.
These oils are selected to enhance relaxation, support the body, and elevate the entire soak experience—not overwhelm it.

Our Favorite Oils for Bath Soaks
Start with just a few drops and build your perfect experience:
- Eucalyptus Globulus - Our Favorite! This oil opens up your nasal and lung airways and helps you breathe deeply! This has the smell of Vicks Vapor rub but none of the harsh petrochemicals!
- Idaho Blue Spruce - Supports hormone health and grounds you emotionally.
- Eucalyptus Blue - Another oil that opens up the airways for clear breathing.
- Basil - This is a muscle relaxing oil.
- Frankincense - This oil is exquisite for skin and the appearance of wrinkles, it also supports your immune system and grounds and centers you spiritually and emotionally.
- Geranium Bourbon - This is an exquisite geranium that gives a grounded floral scent.
- Idaho Grand Fir - This oil does many things include relieving discomfort, emotionally grounding, and soothes muscles.
- Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood - This very special oil can be purchased by this company because their efforts of making the oil includes reforestation that is bringing this oil back from endangered lists. There are many health benefits to sandalwood. And, like all tree oils, they ground you emotionally - which is amazing in a bath soak.
- Pine - Because we hail from Colorado, we love the idea of soaking in a pine forest. Now you can too from home! Grounding, mind-clearing and in the bath is like getting a hug from a tree.
- Rose - This is one of the most expensive and desired oils of all time. If you can get this for yourself or someone else, you are giving a gift of luxury and indulgence. This oil is pure and is not watered down like some companies do. This oil comes from Damascus.

If you want to stimulate your pituitary gland and support deep meditative and prayerful states, add 4-5 drops Frankincense to your bath.
For grounding emotional strength add the tree oils like Blue Spruce, Pine or Sandalwood.
To support healthy lungs and clear breathing (should you need it) try Eucalyptus Globulus or Blue.
To support relaxed muscles, add a few drops of Basil.
For a totally feminine and flowery, but yet grounded experience add a few drops of Geranium Bourbon.
This is just the beginning. There are some other amazing oils and blends I can recommend, depending on what you are looking for! Reach out to me at info@highcountrybaths.com.
SAFETY IN USING ESSENTIAL OILS
- Make sure the brand of oils you use distills in surgical stainless steel. Some oil distilleries use vats that have heavy metals in them which ultimately can leach into the oil.
- Make sure your oils come from plants that are non-GMO and no pesticides have been used in growing them.
- If you get essential oils into your eyes or on sensitive skin, apply a fatty oil (like coconut, avocado, sesame, or even vegetable oil in an emergency. Essential oils won't harm you, but you can sure feel uncomfortable if your skin is sensitive.
- Apply approximately 5-7 drops into a tub of water. Thoroughly clean your bath tub after the bath and wipe down where the water level was so that the oils don't eat away at the fiberglass over time.
- Avoid using Peppermint in the bathtub as it will make you both hot and cold at the same time.
- Avoid citrus oils (especially bergamot) as it can make your skin photo-sensitive the next day. (You can sunburn easier).
